(AFP photo) American entertainer Bill Cosby has been released from prison to return home after his sexual conviction was overturned by Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The 83-year-old comedian was released from the state prison in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon. Releasing Cosby “is the only remedy that comports with society’s reasonable expectations of its elected prosecutors and our criminal justice system,” said Justice David N. Wecht. Cosby had already served two years of his three-to-10-year sentence.

Norristown man accused of straw purchase of gun linked to slaying

NORRISTOWN — A Norristown man faces charges he illegally transferred a gun to another borough man who then allegedly used the weapon to fatally shoot a third man in the borough. Sincere Burnett, 20, of the 600 block of West Lafayette Street, was arraigned before District Court Judge Marc Alfarano on charges of unlawful transfer of a firearm, making false statements and carrying a firearm without a license in connection with his alleged “straw purchase” activity involving the gun allegedly used by Hilton Freeman Jr. to kill Junior Pinnock on April 25 in Norristown. Alfarano set Burnett’s bail at $500,000 cash, which Burnett failed to post and he was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await a June 7 preliminary hearing on the charges.
