Was unable to post bail on DUII charge, had been on pain medication
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel said Thursday he d finished his review of the circumstances surrounding a county jail inmate s death early last month and determined it to be a suicide and a non-criminal incident.
The inmate was rushed to St. Charles Bend after the Dec. 3 incident and died three days later at the hospital.
In a news release, Hummel said he concluded that the manner of death was by suicide. The cause of death is still to be determined, as we are awaiting the final autopsy report from the medical examiner. Regardless of the cause of death, this was a non-criminal incident.

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) Mike Leib says the man who lives at a homeless camp behind his business has been trespassing on his property and threatening his employees.
He said Thursday he’s called the police several times, to try get the man to stop, but he’s starting to run out of options.
“He’s been increasingly combative with my staff at the store,” Leib said.
The three-year general manager at Precision Body and Paint told NewsChannel 21 he knows the man and has had some conversations with him.
Bend teenager stabbed in plan ‘to teach him a lesson,’ court records say

A group of Bend teenagers plotted to take a classmate to the badlands and “teach him a lesson,” beating him up and filming it because they thought he assaulted a girl.
But the plan went awry last month when one of the alleged co-conspirators pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, causing the group to panic and flee, according to court records.
The victim, James Kaleb Peter Duvall, 18, suffered a life-threatening injury and was rushed to St. Charles Bend.
