PEORIA A Chillicothe man died of cold exposure after he fallen at his property along the Illinois River.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Kent Hamm, 57, was found in his backyard, and there was no sign of trauma or foul play. A report on toxicology is pending.
He had been reported missing on Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff s department. The Peoria County Coroner s Office is involved in the investigation.
Hamm was last seen on Jan. 20, at approximately 7 a.m. at the Shell Gas Station, 5530 E Knox Street in Chillicothe. His family, the sheriff s department said, reported last speaking with Hamm over the phone on Jan. 18.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has announced Hamm died of exposure to the cold. He said Hamm appeared to have fallen while outside and, for reasons not yet clear, was unable to pull himself back up.
He had no trauma, and no foul play was evident.
A toxicology test was pending.

PCSO had been searching Wednesday afternoon for 57-year-old Kent Hamm, who was last seen at the Knox St. Shell in Chillicothe.
A single vehicle accident has claimed the life of a Peoria businessman.
49-year-old Paul T. Jacob died Tuesday evening after being ejected from the vehicle he was driving on Princeville-Jubilee Road.
The accident happened just south of the Parks School Road intersection around 5:45 p.m. Jacob was the president of Brewers Distributing in Peoria.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Jacob’s vehicle veered off the road and hit a utility pole.
A Peoria woman is dead after she fell into the Illinois River while kayaking Thursday.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said 45-year-old Sarah Gray was kayaking from the Mossville area to the RiverPlex on Thursday, but told her husband she was turning around because of ice in the river. She never returned.
She was in an 11-foot pink kayak wearing a yellow life vest. Authorities found the kayak Friday morning stuck in the ice on the Illinois River, near Derby Road.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Gray, an experienced kayaker, somehow fell into the river after freeing her kayak from the ice.

CHILLICOTHE, Ill. Sarah Gray, a 45-year-old woman who went missing Thursday evening after kayaking in the Illinois River, has been found dead, according to Illinois Conservation Police.
Gray’s husband said she went kayaking up the river towards the RiverPlex but decided to turn around due to ice in the river. He said she never returned after turning around.
Gray was wearing a yellow life jacket, just as she was when she went missing, when she was found.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deployed two drones and were also assisted by Life Flight and Peoria Fire Department when they received the report Gray was missing.
