Two years after publicly promising to do better, Ramsey County prosecutors are reviewing more sexual assault cases and filing more charges, County Attorney John Choi said Tuesday.
Ramsey County prosecutors filed charges in 150 adult sex assault cases in 2020 up from 99 in 2017 and charged about half of cases reviewed last year compared with 43% in 2017. We are slowly showing some real progress, Choi said. There is still a lot more that needs to happen, but we are certainly on the right track.
Boy, 11, tells cops who killed his mum, sister before he died
An 11-year-old Minnesota boy who had been shot five times was able to tell officers before he died that his motherâs boyfriend shot him and killed his mother and sister, according to criminal charges filed Tuesday.
Tekeith Jones, 26, was charged with three counts of second-degree intentional murder in the killings of DâZondria Wallace, 30, her 13-year-old daughter LaâPorsha and her 11-year-old son JaâCorbie at their home in St Paul on Saturday.
Jones first court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday.
The complaint said DâZondria was shot twice and LaâPorsha was shot 10 times. Both were dead when officers arrived.

An 11-year-old boy shot five times alongside his mother and teenage sister implicated the man who did it before dying at the hospital, according to murder charges.
TeKeith Syvone Jones, 26, was charged Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court with three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his ex-girlfriend, D Zondria Wallace, 30, and her two children, La Porsha, 14, and Ja Corbie, 11. Jones remains jailed in lieu of $5 million bail.
In a police interview, Jones eventually confessed to the shooting but gave inconsistent answers on the motive. Jones didn t know why he killed them, charges say, but claimed he was trying to save them.
