KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Tuesday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a warning to consumers regarding a recent rise in scam calls.
In this latest scam, callers are said to be impersonating law enforcement officers or agencies. They may claim the victimâs name is on a package of drugs and money, or there is a warrant out for their arrest.
The scammer tells the victim to wire money and/or purchase gift cards. They are then instructed to provide the gift card numbers over the phone to take care of the warrant.

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police say a suspect is dead and two other people are injured after a stabbing and shooting incident in Oshtemo Township this morning.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says just after 7:00 a.m. Friday, a call came in about a suicidal person armed with a knife at a home at Chippendale Drive and Morningstar Way.
When deputies arrived at the home, the Sheriff’s Department says the suspect “engaged deputies and shots were fired.”
State Police Lt. DuWayne Robinson said the man who was killed by a deputy had injured two people inside the home before the deputy arrived, according to WWMT-TV.

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI Police are investigating at the scene where a man allegedly stabbed his parents and was later shot by police while holding a knife, leading to his death.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 7:06 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, to a residence on the 6600 block of Morningstar Way in Oshtemo Township for a report of a “suicidal” subject with a knife, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
“When deputies arrived, the suspect engaged deputies and shots were fired,” the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a brief news release issued Friday. “There were victims at the scene that had been stabbed.”
