COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolinians who are over 65 years old can now get in line for the COVID-19 vaccine.
On Monday, officials with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control stressed the importance of vaccinating those over 65 years old, saying that it was a conversation between Governor Henry McMasterâs office and DHEC about moving this group from Phase 1C to 1A.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Governor Henry McMaster and Superintendent Molly Spearman have charged school districts to get back to the classroom with or without a vaccine and to get a plan in place regarding how to vaccinate teachers when the state moves to Phase 1B.
“It feels like being tossed the bare minimum of the life preserver and then being told good luck,” SC for Ed Research Director Steve Nuzum said.
South Carolina Education Association President Sherry East said that some larger districts have been preparing for this for weeks, while smaller districts are just now getting started and working at full speed to get their plans ready.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Authorities arrested five people and seized drugs and several guns at a nightclub in Georgetown County that was also found to be violating Gov. Henry McMasterâs orders.
Authorities arrested Antwan Jamale White, Kadeem Denzal Williams, Edward Tyrone Pipkin III, Tyree Deshawn Gasque and John Demarcus Johnson.
Their arrest stems from an investigation that began on Wednesday when SLED agents and deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriffâs Office responded to âJulieâsâ on 1444 St. Delight Road in the Sampit area.
SC for Ed is calling all teachers and community members to action this week, asking everyone to contact McMaster or other representatives and make their concerns heard.
