Worcester mayor Petty US Sen Warren Rep McGovern letter permanently replace striking nurses St Vincent Hospital Tenant

Telegram & Gazette Staff WORCESTER  Nearly three months after 800 nurses at St. Vincent Hospital walked off the job over staffing concerns, a delegation of federal and state lawmakers sent the hospital’s owner, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Executive Chairman and CEO Ronald Rittenmeyer, a sharply worded letter regarding the company’s decision to permanently replace striking nurses. Led by U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, and U.S. Reps. James McGovern and Lori Trahan, the letter was signed by 28 other local officials and state leaders, including State Sen. President Emerita Harriette Chandler, Worcester Mayor Joseph M. Petty and the City Council.

WORCESTER JetBlue is returning to Worcester Regional Airport, resuming flights to New York City in August, and flights to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in October. Three-alarm Fitchburg fire displaces 6 people

Telegram & Gazette Staff FITCHBURG  A three-alarm fire displaced six people Friday afternoon. The quick-moving blaze on Abbott Avenue broke out on the second floor of the two-family home with flames breaking through the roof. According to a tweet by the Red Cross of Massachusetts, six residents of the home three adults and three children were reportedly displaced by the fire. Fire crews from Fitchburg and neighboring Leominster responded to blaze, which broke out just after 3 p.m. at 64 Abbott Ave. Mutual aid support was provided by the surrounding towns of Lunenburg, Ashburnham, Westminster, Gardner and Hubbardston. Both the Red Cross and the Salvation Army are assisting the families.
