GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. â Last week, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced that the Colquitt County School System was among 43 recipients of grants totaling $240,000.
These grants are part of the Dollar General Literacy Foundationâs recent $10.5 million donation to support summer, family and adult literacy programs, representing the organizationâs largest one-day grant donation in its 28-year history, according to a press release from the company.
The donations in Georgia are expected to positively impact the lives of more than 24,563 residents, the press release said.
Colquitt Countyâs share of the grants is $3,000.Â
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation provides grant funding to support literacy and education initiatives serving individuals of all ages, the foundation said on its website, dgliteracy.org. The foundation funds nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 15-mile radius of Dollar General stores

MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) - More steps must take place before a judge will decide whether a lawsuit against Colquitt County School System will move forward.

MOULTRIE, Ga. â Brad Roberts will be assistant principal at Okapilco Elementary School, effective July 1, according to an announcement released Thursday.
Okapilco Elementary School Principal Dr. Gistacy Brown shared, âWe are excited to welcome Mr. Brad Roberts as our assistant principal. Mr. Roberts is eager to start and share our mission, vision, and goals. He brings an extensive math and special education background, a love for the community, and a desire to build relationships with all stakeholders. Mr. Roberts will be a great addition to our staff. I look forward to working with Mr. Roberts, and I am sure he will be instrumental in the success of Okapilco Elementary School.â
