(Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States image) TAIPEI (Taiwan News) Taiwan was represented in an official capacity at the U.S. presidential inauguration on Wednesday (Jan. 20) for the first time since the U.S. severed diplomatic ties over 40 years ago. On Wednesday, Taiwan’s envoy to the U.S., Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), attended the inauguration of President Joe Biden on the West Front of the Capitol building. At 11 a.m., just before Biden took the oath of office, Hsiao posted a tweet in which she stated it was an honor to represent Taiwan at the inauguration ceremony for President Biden and Vice President Harris.
