Abbas Siddiqui’s Indian Secular Front Stitches Alliance with Congress-Left Ditching Owaisi in Bengal Polls

In a significant political development ahead of the crucial Assembly polls in West Bengal, the alliance between Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and the newly-formed Indian Secular Front (ISF) of Abbas Siddiqui, is likely to run in to a rough weather with the new political equation emerging between ISF and the Congress-Left Front.
Owaisi saw a huge political opportunity in the State and since 2011, his party has slowly started working in the bordering areas of the State where the Muslim population is high. After winning the Kishanganj seat in Bihar for the first time, Owaisi paid more attention towards West Bengal. Cong announces Maharashtra unit with parliamentary board

New Delhi, Feb 5 : The Congress has announced its Maharashtra state unit with a parliamentary board, giving it the autonomy to decide on alliance and selection of candidates, which till date were prerogatives of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
The revival of parliamentary board at the AICC level had been the demand of the group of 23 leaders, who had written to interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi in August last year seeking sweeping reforms in the party .
The process of reviving the parliamentary board has started in the states, which is a positive sign, said one of the signatories.
