WASHINGTON (KLKN) Following the violent protests just outside the U.S. Capitol Building, Congress has announced that they will be forging ahead with the electoral college vote count. As of now, Congress is tentatively scheduled to reconvene at seven o’clock.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi released a statement saying “a shameful assault was made on our democracy… It cannot, however, deter us from our responsibility to validate the election of Joe Biden.”
Several representatives, including Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, support the decision to continue the joint-session tonight if it remains safe.
If we can do so safely and without further danger to police, we should continue with the congressional proceedings tonight to show the true strength of Democracy in America.
