Perry’s actions speak louder than his words | PennLive letters

I read Congressman Scott Perry’s statement of January 9th condemning the violence at the Capitol with interest and then, alarm. That he condemned the violence is a good thing, but it falls well short of what is required.
He first establishes a false equivalence with the demonstrations over the summer in response to police actions involving black Americans. There is a quantum difference between the circumstances and context. One is part of a movement for achieving equality under the law and basic civil rights. The other is an attempt to subvert the will of the people and an attack on the Constitution and our Democracy itself.
