This time last year, no news director expected a global pandemic, but Julie Wolfe may have been readier than many when it came.
The news director of Tegna’s ABC affiliate WHAS Louisville, Ky., Wolfe came up through the company’s ranks as a multimedia journalist (MMJ) and digital director before taking the newsroom’s helm. The skills she honed helped put the station on a strong footing during its forced remote transition last year. They’ve also helped her process of hiring and onboard

Next week’s CES will feature virtualized presentations of new 8K TV sets, streaming technology and ever-improving home video production tools that will be of interest to broadcasters. Erik Langner, president of Signal Infrastructure Group (recently rechristened from Public Media Group), has been working to identify potential applications for broadcasters’ ATSC 3.0 data pipe.
