CADILLAC â A 47-year-old Boon woman faced a lone embezzlement charge that alleged she stole from her former employer during her arraignment in 84th District Court.
Melody Linn Slocumb was charged with one count of embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 for her connection with an incident occurring on or between the dates of July 1, 2019, and May 16, 2020, in Haring Township. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines or three times the amount embezzled, whichever is greater.
The charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. Slocumb is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The prosecution has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
CADILLAC â A 39-year-old Belding woman faced multiple offenses, including one methamphetamine-related felony during her recent arraignment in Wexford County s 84th District Court.
Sarah Kay Conley was charged with one count each of delivery or manufacture of methamphetamine second or subsequent offense, operating while license suspended, revoked or denied second or subsequent offense, operating a motor vehicle without security and unlawful use of a license plate, registration or title for her connection with an incident on April 9 in Haring Township. A habitual offender second offense notice was added to the charges which enhance the sentence on the primary offense by 1.5 times.
CADILLAC â A 40-year-old Harrison man faced assault and domestic violence offenses during his recent arraignment in Wexford County s 84th District Court.
Lance VanBuskirk was charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation and domestic violence for his connection with an incident on April 5 in Clam Lake Township. A habitual offender second offense notice was added to the assault-related offense which enhances the maximum sentence by 1.5 times.
If convicted, VanBuskirk faces up to 15 years in prison or $7,500 in fines.

CADILLAC â A 40-year-old Cadillac woman, who was charged with open murder and animal killing/torture offenses last month, is undergoing evaluations to determine if she can be held criminally responsible and competent to stand trial.
Angelee Noel Ross was charged with one count of homicide â open murder, two counts of third-degree killing/torturing of an animal and three counts of felony firearms for her connection with an incident on or between the dates of March 16 and March 17 in Norman Township in Manistee County s 85th District Court.
The court ordered the criminally responsibility and competency evaluations on March 31.
Criminal responsibility means deciding if the defendant should be deemed responsible or not for the alleged crime based upon their mental or emotional state at the time of the offense.
