FOOD FLIGHTS: KANA program delivers meals to village Elders

Local chef and food truck owner Diane Million stood in the Island Air hangar at Kodiak Benny Benson State Airport Wednesday morning wondering what to do with the platters of salad, lasagna and garlic bread she had brought to feed Elders in Larsen Bay.  She had made the food — lasagna slathered in sauce, trays of sliced bread and greens from BrightBox Farms — in her food truck, Million Recipes, the previous day.  But on Wednesday, the flight meant to deliver the food to the Elders for lunch was cancelled because of 40 mph winds in Larsen Bay, which would make it difficult for the pilot to land.
