Apple’s MacBook Pro Refresh Will Ditch The Touch Bar By Tyler Lee, on 07/07/2021 17:46 PDT
The Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro was supposed to be Apple’s way of revolutionizing the laptop and the way we use our computers. However, it wasn’t particularly well-received, even though admittedly the concept itself held a lot of potential. Now it looks like the feature could be removed for good.

According to analysts at Display Supply Chain Consultants, they are corroborating earlier rumors that Apple might ditch the Touch Bar for the next MacBook Pro refresh. This is something we’ve heard before and with the upcoming rumored design changes that Apple will be making to the MacBook Pro lineup, we can’t say we’re too surprised.
Later this year it’s expected that Apple will release its new series of MacBook Pro. And it looks like it may yeet the infamous Touch Bar.
The new MacBook Pros are said to have the next generation of Apple Silicon processors, as well as a shiny new design. But one surprise rumour is that the Touch Bar will be replaced by a more regular row of functional keys.
As a reminder, the Touch Bar was first introduced to certain MacBook Pro models in 2016. It is an OLED touchscreen that sits about the MacBook Pro keyboard. Its dynamic controls offers users shortcuts relevant to what content is on the main screen. It also offers quick access to system level shortcuts.
The OLED iPad Air could arrive in 2023 instead of next year

At the end of last month we passed along a rumor stating that next year s iPad Air tablet will be the first slate from Apple to sport an OLED display. But Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) just released its latest quarterly OLED Shipment Report calling for the first OLED equipped iPad to launch in 2023. DSCC doesn t name the tablet and just refers to it as a 10.8-inch model expected to be released in 2023.
Basically, both tips refer to the iPad Air with one calling for the OLED model to debut in 2022 with the other looking for the launch to occur in 2023. Speaking of OLED, DSCC sees revenue from OLED sales rising 9% this year to reach $42.5 billion thanks to higher sales of smartphones packing OLED displays. For 2025, DSCC now expects OLED revenue for that year to be 11% higher at $60.6 billion. Once again, demand from smartphone manufacturers is expected to lead the way.
New MacBook Pro Will Drop The Touch Bar In Favor Of Traditional Function Keys
Apple is likely to launch its next-generation MacBook Pro without the controversial Touch Bar. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth is reportedly gearing up to unveil a MacBook Pro lineup this summer. The imminent device is expected to a new design, and pack upgraded Apple Silicon processors.
The Touch Bar was introduced on the MacBook Pro in a bid to revolutionize the laptop and the way they are used. Much to Apple’s chagrin, it failed to garner popularity among users. The concept had a lot of potentials, but now it appears that the company will be removing the Touch Bar from its powerful notebooks for good.
OLED iPad Now Expected In 2023 By Tyler Lee, on 07/07/2021 18:29 PDT
Apple’s current iPad lineup largely relies on LCD, save for the 2021 iPad Pro which switched to mini LED. However, a recent report suggested that come 2022, we might be able to look forward to an OLED iPad Air, but that might also be wrong now. This is according to analysts at Display Supply Chain Consultants who claim that the first OLED iPad will now arrive in 2023.

The initial report suggested that the first OLED iPad could be a 10.8-inch iPad Air, which we guess makes sense. Apple has already switched to mini LED for the iPad Pro so it seems unlikely that they will be making another display tech switch so soon. However, what’s interesting about these reports is why Apple isn’t switching to mini LED across the board.
