BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON Restoration of a popular trail in Big Cottonwood Canyon was recently completed, according to a group dedicated to the conservation of Salt Lake County s Wasatch canyons.
The Cottonwood Canyons Foundation announced last week that the Mill B North Restoration Project was recently completed after three years. The Mill B North Fork Trail is by one of the most-visited trailheads in the canyon.
The out-and-back trail located close to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon is nearly 10 miles in length. It also includes over 3,000 feet in elevation gain and is rated as difficult, according to AllTrails. The website points out that the path is a heavily-trafficked route that features a waterfall.

SALT LAKE CITY The National Weather Service issued a pair of winter weather advisories across the mountain ranges from northern to southern Utah ahead of another storm expected to once again bring the state a mixture of rain and snow Friday and Saturday.
The storm moved into northern Utah Friday evening. At about 6:50 p.m., the Utah Department of Transportation announced there were roadway restrictions in place for both directions on U.S. Highway 40 from Heber City to Fruitland, and traction devices were required.
Earlier in the day, UDOT tweeted that traction devices, chains, and 4x4 were required for all vehicles traveling in both directions for Big Cottonwood Canyon and Little Cottonwood Canyon.

COTTONWOOD CANYONS, Utah â UDOT is trying something new to prevent overcrowding in the Cottonwood Canyons.
âIf the resorts are full, the trail head parking is full, and the road side parking are full, said Jake Brown, the Roadway operations manager for the Cottonwood Canyons, âthatâs when we will go to the restriction of the canyons.â
UDOT, ski resorts, UPD and park services are working together to figure out when the canyons will be at âcapacity.â Once capacity is reached, they will stop all traffic heading up in order to keep traffic at a manageable amount and give plows time to do their work if it is snowing.
