With the number of people actively battling COVID-19 infections in B.C. hitting an all-time high, record numbers of people are also in hospitals, and in intensive care units with the disease.
The good news for British Columbians is that the province has put together two days in a row with all-time high numbers of newly vaccinated people – the first such two-day stretch in a week.
The vast majority of the 10,081 people now fighting COVID-19 infections have been told to self-isolate, although 425 are in hospital, with 127 of those being in intensive care units.

It brings the region to 9,771 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 944 currently active.
There are 22 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the BC Interior and nine of them are in critical care.
With no new deaths since Wednesday’s update, Interior Health’s pandemic death toll remains at 120.
Once again, the health authority posted record daily vaccination numbers, with nearly 10,000 receiving their first poke over the last 24 hours.

B.C. continues to endure its third wave in the COVID-19 pandemic, with a mix of good and bad news.
BC Centre for Disease Control officials detected 873 new infections in the past day, which may sound high, but it is the lowest number of cases identified in a 24-hour period since 832 cases were found on April 1. Health officials warned that the number may be revised because of a glitch in the reporting system.
The new cases raise the total number of COVID-19 infections in B.C. to 113,702, since researchers discovered the first infection in the province in January, 2020. Almost 90%, or 102,268 people, are deemed by the province to have recovered.
