Saturday is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, and Lane County residents are encouraged to take part. There are many steps the county recommends you take to stay prepared for wildfire season. This includes disposing of lawn debris to reduce fuel. Also, you should clear needles, leaves and other debris from roofs, gutters, porches and decks. They also suggested moving firewood piles to at least 30 feet away from buildings, and keep lawns mowed and hydrated.
