Firefighters battle blaze at Midland industrial facility Updated 12:34 PM; Facebook Share MIDLAND, MI - A structure fire is ongoing but mostly contained at a Midland warehouse as of roughly 11:45 a.m. Monday. Crews from the Midland Fire Department and others are on the scene at Midland Compounding & Consulting, located at 3810 James Savage Road next to Midland Paper Company. Midland Paper Company made a post to its Facebook page stating its staff were safe and their building was not on fire. At roughly 12:15 p.m., Midland spokeswoman Selina Tisdale relayed information from Midland Fire Chief Chris Coughlin, who is still on the scene. There are no injuries and the fire is mostly contained, but crews will be at the scene most of the day to make sure it is completely put out, she said.

Driver killed, passenger injured in Jackson County cras

A driver was killed and his passenger was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Jackson County Wednesday morning.  Troopers from the Athens Post of the Georgia State Patrol were called to the accident scene on SR 330 at Savage Road just after 6:30 a.m. The investigation found that a silver Infiniti Q50 (passenger car) was traveling north on Savage Road, said SFC Timothy Meyer in an email statement. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at its intersection with SR 330. The Infiniti traveled across the roadway, off the north side of SR 330 and into the wood line.

Published annually, the plan outlines the department s strategy for road, bridge and other transportation upgrades and maintenance projects. The three-year plan covers approximately $2.71 billion worth of construction and maintenance. In Waldo County, estimated funding needed for planned projects this year totals $25,871,070. The largest individual projects include: Reconstruction of 1.85 miles of Route 1 in Searsport, $10.5 million. Dredging the channel in Searsport, the county’s deepwater port, $5.5 million.

Sen Curry pleased to see DOT s strong investment in Waldo County infrastructure

AUGUSTA  Sen. Chip Curry, D-Belfast, is pleased with the details of Maine’s three-year transportation infrastructure work plan, and what it means for Waldo County. The plan is released annually with an outline of the Maine Department of Transportation’s strategy for road, bridge and other transportation upgrades and maintenance projects. “Everyone here in Waldo County knows just how much our roads and bridges need improvement,” said Sen. Curry. “I’m glad to see such strong investment from the Maine Department of Transportation. I encourage everyone to read more about their plans.” According to the MDOT, the work plan covers approximately $2.71 billion worth of construction and maintenance, which includes 2,180 work items.
