East Texas school districts make announcements as far as classes are concerned for Monday, February 15th and beyond.
East Texas is being hit by a powerful winter storm with freezing rain, sleet and snow, lots of snow. All of this activity is expected to come to an end on Monday. Many East Texas school districts had already planned a school holiday because of Presidents Day on Monday the 15th. The potential of winter weather will be back in our forecast for Wednesday into Thursday.
With so much winter weather expected this week, East Texas school districts are either cancelling classes for Monday, delaying the start of classes on Tuesday or switching over to virtual learning. Here s what we know so far:

Calvin Rector, 38, of Celeste, is free on a $200,000 personal recognizance bond on a charge of aggravated robbery of an elderly person.

Two Hunt County residents have been indicted on charges of armed robbery in connection with an incident in Greenville in October.
Calvin Dywane Rector of Celeste and Erica Lynn Bacon of Caddo Mills were each were taken into custody in the 3300 block of Caddo Street in Greenville on the afternoon of Oct. 19 by officers with the Greenville Police Department.

Hunt Countyâs surge of COVID-19 continued into the holiday break, with 38 additional cases reported on Christmas Eve.
The countyâs death toll from the virus, as by state health officials, also showed another spike.
The office of Hunt County Judge Bobby Stovall reported an initial investigation by the Health Department determined the latest cases included 20 from the Greenville ZIP codes, five from Caddo Mills, three from Quinlan, two each from Commerce and Lone Oak and one each from Celeste, West Tawakoni and Wolfe City.
