SHREVEPORT, La- In the fifth installment of the #SaferShreveport weekly briefings, Shreveport police gave an update on recruitment efforts and ongoing crime prevention initiatives. Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers also shared how law enforcement and the community working together fights crime.
One big topic during the meeting was hiring. Like other work forces, SPD is short-staffed and recent events have made hiring difficult.
âCovid-19 pandemic being one of them, and then some anti-law enforcement sentiment we ve seen nationwide,â said Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond. âThat has affected both our resignation, retirement rates, as well as those young individuals that are looking for their first career.â
Crime Stoppers to encourage home and business camera installation
SHREVEPORT, La- Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers plans to encourage residents and businesses to help with solving crime with the use of cameras.
âCameras catch criminals and that is so true,â said president of the Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers Reed Ebarb.
If you look down the Facebook page for Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers, you will see a lot of video and images used to get help from the public to identify suspects.
âWell over 85-90% of the videos we put on Crime Stoppers Facebook, we catch that person, and we get their identity.â said Ebarb.
