After nearly five years on the run, Bay, a dog missing from Framingham, is now back safely under her human mom’s roof with the help of some volunteers.
And, as the Missing Dogs Massachusetts Facebook page said, it’s “something to give every owner HOPE!”
Bay, a Basenji mix, was only about 1 1/2 years old when she went missing from Beacon Street / Cavanaugh Road back on June 26, 2016, according to the Facebook page. Since then, she had been spotted wandering in Needham in 2019, and some thought she was Cannoli, a dog missing from Stoughton since 2018. Bay showed up at the same property, and at Needham’s dump, “sporadically,” and those who saw her figured out it wasn’t Cannoli.
Dog missing for 5 years now ‘safe and warm’ after reunion with owner
FRAMINGHAM, Massachusetts (WBZ) A Framingham dog was reunited with her owner after being missing for five years. Bay, a basenji, went missing while staying with a dog sitter because her owner was away, the non-profit Missing Dogs Massachusetts wrote on Facebook.
Bay was reported missing to the organization in 2016 and there were sporadic sightings of her.
In 2019, there were reports of a wandering dog in Needham. “Many had been feeding the dog as well. It was thought that it was a dog that had an owner and was allowed to roam. Then the dog would go off the grid as they often do.”

It was a single kidney bean in a box, a symbol of the much-better gift that radio host Elizabeth Kay wanted to give her mother-in-law, who learned the week of Christmas that she was in stage 4 kidney failure and needed a transplant.
