NPP Honours J A Braimah; Celebrates His Legacy With A Book Launch

  The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will, on Thursday, May 20, 2021, honour the legendary J.A Braimah, a co-founder of the Northern People’s Party, one of the political traditions from which the New Patriotic Party takes its root. Among other things, the legacies of J.A Braimah will be celebrated and honored with a Book Lunch, titled, J.A Braimah: Biography of a Trailblazer, authored by Mr. Alhassan Ahmed. Chiefs, Landguards Face Jail Over Land Deals Daily Guide Network Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei The new Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036) has come to offer solutions to the numerous challenges facing the acquisition and ownership of land in the country, a court of appeal judge, Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei has said. The Act, which has already been passed, makes provisions for chiefs, head of clans and family as well as land owners to be criminally liable for up to 10 years’ imprisonment for actions which negatively affect land acquisition such as indiscriminate deposition of land and multiple sale of land. New Land Act Will Deal With Challenges - Justice Adjei

  A Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, has said the new Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), offers the country the best opportunity to deal with the myriad of challenges affecting land acquisition and administration. The Act, he explained, had now made it possible for chiefs and land owners to be criminally liable for up to 10 years’ imprisonment for actions which negatively affected land acquisition such as indiscriminate deposition of land and multiple sale of land. Also, Justice Adjei said the Act criminalised land guard practices, therefore, land guards and people who engaged their services could face up to 15 years’ imprisonment.
