Upper East Region records 3 COVID-19 related deaths this month

705 Three COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in two municipalities in the Upper East Region this year. Two of the deaths were captured in the region s COVID-19 Situational Report of January 14, 2021 while the other death occurred last Friday, January 15, 2021 and is expected to be captured in the next report this week. The report indicated that two of the deaths - a 63-year-old woman and a 55-year -old man -  were recorded in the Bolgatanga and Kassena Nankana Municipalities, while the third victim, a man in his 30s, was a General Nurse at the Paediatric Unit of the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital who passed on at the Regional Hospital at Bolgatanga last Friday.

COVID-19 kills nurse in Bolgatanga LISTEN JAN 16, 2021 A Nurse at the War Memorial Hospital in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region has reportedly died of COVID-19 at the Regional treatment centre in Bolgatanga. The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Chairman of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mr Habib Mahama who confirmed the death of the nurse to the Ghana News Agency, said he died on Friday, January 15. He said the deceased worked at the Paediatric Unit of the hospital as a Registered General Nurse, adding that 15 staff of the facility had tested positive to the virus, and advocated mass testing for all staff of the War Memorial Hospital to be sure that more staff were not infected.

Upper East Region Wins Best GRNMA History Project Competition

  The Upper East Region has won the history project contest organised by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) as part of activities to mark its 60th Anniversary celebrations. The Association tasked its Regional executives in all former 10 Regions to constitute five-member Committees to write a comprehensive history of the GRNMA backed with 10 minutes video documentary on its events for awards. The Upper East Region subsequently formed their Committee with Mr Kombian Bisianin as Chairman, Mr Francis Wuni, Secretary, while Mr Stephen Adombire, Mr Bukari Kamal and Mr Godfred Aaneamenga Polkuu as members. The purpose of the competition was to enable the 60year old GRNMA to have its history properly documented for future reference and to inform future generations about the chronicle of events since the formation of the Association in 1960.
