National security operatives’ manhandling of Caleb Kudah a ‘slap on media freedom’ – ASEPA Listen to article
Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has described the manhandling of Citi News Caleb Kudah as a slap to media freedom.
Mr. Kudah was arrested at the National Security Ministry on Tuesday for filming abandoned MASLOC vehicles parked at the premises of the Ministry.
He was then brutalised by the security officers.
A team of seven heavily-armed police officers subsequently attempted to detain
Citi News‘ Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo at the premises of
Citi FM/Citi TV in a ‘Rambo’ style.
The officers took the action because Caleb had forwarded some of the footage he captured to Zoe via WhatsApp.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) General Secretary, Kofi Yeboah, has defended Citi FM s Journalist Caleb Kudah’s decision to film some grounded MASLOC cars parked within the premises of the National Security Ministry.
Caleb Kudah, who’s also the Host of BackPage, a news satirical show on Citi TV, is the latest victim of brutality by security personnel after he was assaulted by some National Security operatives who detained him.
He has been criticised by some sections of the public, including the GJA President, Affail Monney, who believes Caleb Kudah breached the code of ethics for journalists by filming the cars in a supposed restricted zone.

The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) is calling for the immediate removal of the President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Affail Monney over what it says is the failure of the association to protect journalists who have been attacked in the country.
This comes after the President of the Ghana Journalists Association stated on radio that
Citi FM journalist, Caleb Kudah, breached the Association s code of ethics when he filmed some grounded MASLOC vehicles at the National Security premises, which may have warranted the subsequent assault on him.
