The Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) at the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has given government a two-week ultimatum to address issues affecting staff members.
The ultimatum was after a crunch meeting between representatives of the workers and the Ministers-designate for Labour, Transport and National Security.
Following the withdrawal of services by the workers, they claim among other things, that the Board of the company is shelving a report which confirms allegations of mismanagement and abuse of office levelled against the Managing Director, Mr. Yaw Kwakwa.

The workers of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) are accusing management of gradually running down the company.
While accusing the manager of the company, Mr. Yaw Kwakwa of mismanagement, the workers also say issues of promotion and staff welfare are not being looked at.
The outrage of the workers led to the disruption of all departures at the Kotoko International Airport (KIA) on Friday morning following the indefinite withdrawal of services of all general staff at the airport on the orders of the Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers Union at the Ghana Airport Company Limited.

All departures at the Kotoko International Airport (KIA) are expected to be disrupted this morning following a call for an indefinite withdrawal of services of all general staff at the airport.
The call was made by the Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers Union at the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).
According to the Union, the withdrawal of their services which begins with mandatory screening services, flight display and announcements, has been necessitated by alleged attempts by the Board of the company to shelve a report which confirms allegations of mismanagement and abuse of office levelled against the Managing Director, Mr. Yaw Kwakwa.

The Ghana Airport Company Limited’s Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers’ Union of the Trade Union Congress has challenged the Company’s Board to make public, findings of the Investigative Committee.
This follows the Union’s decision to withdraw their services from 6 am on Friday, February 26, until further notice.
According to the group, the Company’s Board is attempting to shelve the report of an investigative committee that allegedly confirms that the Managing Director, Yaw Kwakwa is guilty of mismanagement and abuse of office.
Speaking on Joy FM’s NewsNite Thursday, the Divisional Chairman of the Union, Abdul-Issaka Bamba argued that if the Board is not covering for Mr Kwakwa then the Union that made the assertions must be informed about the findings.
Ghana is not ready to legalise the use of motorcycles for commercial purposes, popularly referred to as “okada”, the Minister designate for Transport, Mr Kweku Ofori Asiamah, has said.
He said contrary to reports that his ministry had engaged stakeholders to legalise Okada in the country, what the ministry did was engage in consultations to determine whether to legalise it or not.
He said after the consultations, it had become clear that the country was not ready to legalise the okada trade.
Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, he said: “I never said that we were leading a stakeholder consultation to legalise Okada. I said we were having consultations to come to a determination whether we are going to legalise it or not, and as the condition pertains today, we will not be able to legalise okada.
