The controversy surrounding the award of contract to Frontiers Healthcare Services, a company undertaken COVID-19 testing at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), has been put to rest by the Minister-designate for the Ministry of Transport, Hon. Kweku Ofori Asiamah.
Opening up on the matter when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, for public hearing on issues relating to the portfolio he has been designated to by the President of the land after receiving briefing from the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL, Hon. Asiamah, said the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), which operates the KIA, only rented its space to Frontiers Healthcare Services.

COVID-19 Test Reduced to US$50 for ECOWAS Nationals at KIA

LEDing Medical Laboratory has refuted reports that it issued a fake COVID-19 test on a Ghanaian woman who travelled to Nigeria last Sunday.
This comes after one Portia Kissi Adu disclosed to Accra-based radio station Starr FM that some airport officials insisted she undertook a new COVID-19 test after it emerged they did not recognize an earlier one conducted at Noguchi.
But in a reaction to the reports, LEDing Medical Laboratory in a statement noted, it “never issued a COVID-19 test which is clearly demonstrated by the presence of a serial number on the fake test report that does not correspond to the authentic automated serial numbers (both in sequence and numbers) generated and used by LEDing Medical Laboratory in serving the general public”
Ho Airport to begin commercial flights April,2021
Commercial flights to and fro the Ho Airport will begin April this year.
According to the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), the first batch of commercial flights to Ho will resume during the Easter holidays.
The GACL stated that the opening of the airport will go a long way to ease the stress of passengers having to travel long hours in buses to reach their destination as the duration will be reduced to 30 minutes.
Head of Business Development Services of the GACL, Madam Amma Faake Gadzekpo said the facility had long been ready and was waiting for the right time and opportunity to resume fully.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the launch of commercial flights to Ho during the Easter holidays.
Madam, Amma Faake Gadzekpo, Head of Business Development Services of the GACL said the facility had long been ready, and that the Company had been looking for the “right opportunity and timing to make it happen.”
She made the announcement at a stakeholders meeting in Ho organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to engage stakeholders including; players in the hospitality industry on developing sustainable packages to grow the travel and tour industry in the Region.
Madam Gadzekpo said an increase in tourism, and business activities in the Region were likely to make the Ho route one of the “best” in the country.
