Conway Regional Health System’s decision to add nearly a dozen doctors last year seems to be paying off as the system continues growing.
“Adding new physicians has given us the opportunity to extend services out to the community,” said Matt Troup, the health system’s president and CEO.
Conway Regional added 11 doctors last year: a general surgeon, a cardiologist, a pulmonologist, four hospitalists, two pain management physicians, an emergency room physician and an OB-GYN.
Those additional physicians are treating patients in Conway Regional’s locations, which include Clinton, Dardanelle, Morrilton and Russellville.
Brandi Keith
The University of Central Arkansas has named Brandi Keith director of operations for the Interprofessional Teaching Center (ITC) in the new Integrated Health Sciences Building.
In this role, Keith is responsible for the overall administration of clinical services for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS), including services and programs provided by the newly developed ITC and the Speech-Language-Hearing Center. She will develop a vision and strategic plan and direct activities of the ITC, ensuring and maintaining provider payer enrollment and coordinating clinic scheduling and outreach operations with diverse populations, students and faculty from multiple disciplines.
She began this role on Tuesday, Feb. 16 and reports to Nancy Reese, dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.

School of Nursing faculty from the University of Central Arkansas assisted in COVID-19 vaccinations at Conway Regional Health System.
For 14 days in December and January, faculty from the School of Nursing volunteered to vaccinate doctors, nurses and other health care professionals at Conway Regional.
Susan Gatto, director of the School of Nursing, said faculty volunteered to assist with the vaccinations.
“Our faculty members did not hesitate to volunteer their own time during the winter break,” Gatto said. “We felt like we were contributing in this unprecedented and historic time to help an already stressed healthcare system.”
The Conway Regional Health System hosted a COVID-19 vaccine Q&A on its Facebook page on Dec. 27, answering common questions about the new COVID-19 vaccine with Dr. Alex Freeman of Freeman Family Medicine in Conway.
Freeman tried to give the public more confidence and increase willingness to take the vaccine by describing how effective the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are.
âIn terms of the efficacy, [the numbers] have been great,â Freeman said. â[Both vaccines] have been shown to be 94 to 95 percent effective.â
He added that even those who contract the coronavirus after receiving a vaccine have been shown to have much fewer complications.
