Of course, the widespread speculation surrounding the second seat at Mercedes has been a big talking point in Formula 1 this season, but Bottas shouldn’t be discounted from the possibility of retaining his drive just yet. While the likes of George Russell and Esteban Ocon have been mooted as possible contenders for that seat, as well as people from outside of Mercedes’ own stable, the fact remains that Bottas still has a chance to make that seat his own again for 2022 – which must be a strange position in which to find yourself on a personal level, auditioning for a role you already hold.

F1 finally has a rivalry as Verstappen emerges as genui

Lauda and Hunt, Senna and Prost, Schumacher and Hakkinen and Hamilton and Rosberg are a few of the genuine rivalries that the romance of Formula One (F1) was built on. And in 2021, there is another. After five races of the new season, Lewis Hamilton, chasing a record eighth world title, finds himself in an unfamiliar position he is trailing another driver with a quarter of the season gone. Dutchman Max Verstappen driving for Red Bull Honda, leads the world title on 105 points after his victory through the streets of Monte Carlo last week. Mercedes’ Hamilton is on 101 points but he has won three of the five races this season, with Verstappen hot on his exhaust in all those contests. Verstappen has not finished outside the top two.

Christian Horner has a lucky toilet at every circuit

Horner has a ‘lucky toilet’ at every circuit Date published: May 25 2021 Red Bull boss Christian Horner has revealed that at every circuit he goes to, he must find himself a lucky toilet. Having served as team principal of Red Bull’s Formula 1 outfit since 2005, Horner has visited many tracks over those years. Of course, he will have made many trips to the bathroom throughout that time on the road with Formula 1, but they actually play a more significant part in his preparations for a race than you would imagine. Horner’s lucky routine dictates he must visit his “lucky toilet” before starting each race.
