The historic reforms were officially introduced in Queensland Parliament today, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk saying the matter had not been rushed but considered extensively. But there is uncertainty around how the scheme will be available to people in regional, rural and remote areas because of the Commonwealth s Criminal Code. Currently under the Code, it is illegal to use a phone, videoconference, email or other electronic communication to publish or distribute material that counsels or incites committing or attempting to commit suicide.

High Court rejects challenge to China interference probe

The federal police investigation into a Labor MP’s former staffer under foreign interference laws will proceed after the High Court rejected a legal challenge to a search of the MP’s office.
John Zhang, who was a part-time adviser to NSW upper house MP Shaoquett Moselmane from 2018 to 2020, has been accused of “covertly” trying to get Mr Moselmane to support Chinese state interests via the social media outlet WeChat between July 2019 and June 2020.

Letâs work together to eliminate the use of gas
Ignoring any political spin, it just seems sensible and natural to eliminate the use of gas for heating, cooking, hot water or barbecues (TheAge, 5/5). Burning gas is directly producing emissions. Also, with the decreasing capacity of the Bass Strait gas field, it seems certain that gas prices will continue to rise.
