The option to vote by mail in Massachusetts is officially extended through the spring.
Tuesday, Governor Baker signed legislation keeping mail-in voting and early voting options for elections held through June 2021.
Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin said this new legislation means towns can also reschedule upcoming elections until later in the spring.
Galvin said this will allow time to make arrangements for polling places located in schools using in-person learning.

(Undated) Gov. Charlie Baker announced Wednesday an updated timeline for when not-yet eligible Massachusetts residents can expect a chance at the COVID-19 vaccine, ranging from residents just below age 65 to 16 year olds. Starting next week, Massachusetts will enter the next phase of the vaccine rollout, allowing residents 60 years old and older, as well as residents of all ages who work in specific industries, to be eligible to receive the vaccine. On April 5, the age requirement will be lowered to 55 years and older, and residents with at least one qualified medical condition will become eligible. Starting on April 19, all Massachusetts residents 16 years old and older will be eligible. Massachusetts has fully vaccinated more than 946,000 people, state officials said Tuesday.

Gov. Charlie signed into law Tuesday a bill that extends mail-in and early voting options through the end of June in Massachusetts.
The options were originally approved last year as part of the state’s effort to make voting easier and safer during the pandemic.
The vote-by-mail provision was previously set to expire at the end of this month.
Extending the voting options would help cities and towns holding municipal elections in the spring, supporters said.
The Democratic-controlled House and Senate approved the bill last week and shipped it to the Republican s desk for his signature.
