Lawyers raise Rs 50 lakh for NGOs helping Covid patients in Delhi, Bengal | India News

NEW DELHI: The alumni of National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) at Kolkata have come together to raise Rs 50 lakhs for two reputed NGOs providing healthcare to Covid patients in Delhi and Sunderbans of West Bengal. The fund raising went online on May 1 and within seven days Rs 50 lakhs were donated by the lawyers who had passed out from NUJS. It donated Rs 35 lakhs to NGO Doctors For You (DFY), which is managing more than 2,500 beds at five Covid Care Centers in Delhi (including the Covid Care Center at the Commonwealth Games Village), four Centers in Bengaluru, three in Mumbai and a few more in Bihar, UP and Andhra Pradesh.

HCL to support Delhi govt with ready to use oxygen plants, cylinders Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA HCL Group on Tuesday said it is supporting the Delhi Government with 12,000 oxygen cylinders each with a capacity of 40 liters, along with 21 Oxygen Plants that will generate 8,800 liters of oxygen per minute, catering to around 1,500 patients at a time. “Two of these ready-to-use Oxygen Plants which are being imported from France have already been delivered and will get installed at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in New Delhi,” it said in a statement. Earlier, the company had said it is extending support for COVID-19 care facilities in Delhi-NCR, including facilitating setting up of more than 500 hospital beds at various facilities such as the Commonwealth Games Village (CWG), Holy Family Hospital, Sama Hospital and Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi; and Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida Authority.

A thaw emerged on Thursday in the legal and political clash between Delhi and the Centre over alleged inadequate oxygen supply to the capital, with chief minister Arvind Kejriwal thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the highest daily supply so far during the pandemic on Wednesday. “Delhi’s oxygen usage is 710 metric tonnes per day. We are continuously requesting the central government to give us this much oxygen. Yesterday, for the first time, Delhi received 730 metric tonnes of oxygen. On behalf of the people of Delhi, I express our gratitude. I request that at least this much oxygen be given to Delhi everyday and not be reduced,” Kejriwal said in a letter to Modi.

Addressing a digital press conference, Mr Kejriwal said for the first time, Delhi received 730 MT oxygen from the Centre yesterday; and until the second wave COVID-19 is not curtailed, we will need 700 MT oxygen daily . Mr Kejriwal thanked the Central Government, Supreme Court and High Court because of whose efforts Delhi was able to get 730 MT oxygen. Like I have maintained, Delhi needs 700 MT oxygen, and yesterday was the first time that the Central Government sent 730 MT oxygen. As the Chief Minister of Delhi, I would like to thank the Central Government on behalf of the people of Delhi. I would also thank the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.
