“At the start of this historic year, I challenged each and every one of you to do your part to make this our university’s finest hour,” Diermeier said. “You have done that and more. You not only have stepped up amid unknown-and unknowable-circumstances, you made this year a resounding success.”

In late-May 1887, around 30 Chinese laborers were mining gold in an isolated part of northeast Oregon, when the entire group was gunned down by a white gang of horse thieves. Initially referred to as the “Hells Canyon Massacre” or “Snake River Massacre,” and more recently as the “Chinese Massacre at Deep Creek,” the event is considered one of the deadliest attacks against Chinese-Americans in U.S. history.
Like previous acts of violence against Asian immigrants at the end of the 19th century, the identity of the seven murderers was known, but none were convicted or punished. The event was largely forgotten for more than a century. Then, in 1995, a Wallowa County clerk discovered details about the massacre in files that had been locked away in a safe, long hidden from the public eye.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to
Meander, a horror thriller written and directed by Mathieu Turi. It will now get a July 9, 2021 release date in theaters and on on-demand platforms.
The film stars Gaïa Weiss, Peter Franzen and Romane Libert. Weiss plays Lisa, who after getting a car ride from an unknown man wakes up in a tube. On her arm is strapped a bracelet with a countdown. She quickly understands that every 10 minutes, fire burns an occupied section. She has no choice but to crawl into safe sections to survive. To know why she’s there and how to get out, she will have to face the memories of her dead daughter.

Was Days of our Lives canceled is a question weighing heavily on fans since the NBC soap opera has not yet been renewed.
Days’ future uncertainty has fans thinking back to all the chaos that erupted in November 2019, with the cast being released from their contracts as renewal talks began. Thankfully in January 2020, NBC officially announced that Days of our Lives was given the green light for Season 56.
It’s been a challenging year for the network and soap opera due to the coronavirus pandemic. New expenses occurred due to safety protocols when production resumed last September following a mandatory shutdown.
