Progress On Year-Round Ambulance Service At Sauble Beach

The unit will be based out of Sauble Beach. At the May 6th Bruce County Paramedic Services Committee meeting, it was agreed staff would continue talks with the municipality regarding the lease for a new ambulance service space. South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janice Jackson indicates they’ve been lobbying for years to have the ambulance closer than Port Elgin. Jackson says Paramedic Services has been providing ambulance coverage in Sauble Beach during the summer and early fall since June 2020. The deal is to provide 12-hour service a day, 365 days a year. Next comes the building of a permanent site next to the Sauble fire hall.

Shoreline towns seeking beach closure continuity

WINGHAM, ONT. Hanging out at the beach in southwestern Ontario may not be an option, even when the stay-at-home order is expected to end on May 20. Mayors stretching along the shores of Lake Huron and beyond are discussing shoreline-wide beach closures, possibly before the end of the month. “I think this encompasses right from Elgin County and Lake Erie, right up along Lake Huron to Georgian Bay. The purpose of the discussions would be to have a collaborative approach on the best way to keep our residents safe from the variants, until we’re able to achieve herd immunity,” says Huron County Warden Glen McNeil.
