Christian Fiscal Court heard an update from the health department during its first meeting of 2021. Public Health Director Kayla Bebout says last week had a record number of new coronavirus cases and she attributed the spike to holiday gatherings. The health department has begun their vaccination clinic at the Bruce Convention Center. It follows state guidance on who should receive the shots first, all vaccinations are by appointment and Bebout says they’re working to get educators vaccinated this week. There is an online portal on the Christian County Health Department website for individuals 70 or older to express interest in being vaccinated, though they are first working through the 1,300 people who have already signed up.
