Unsubstantiated or disproven claims that dead people voted stem in part from outdated and inaccurate voter registration rolls.
The issue arose prior to the November presidential election when Tony Daunt, a conservative activist and director of the Michigan Freedom Fund, filed a lawsuit in June claiming the voter rolls were sloppy and neglected by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and at least 16 county clerks across the state.
