Deputies responded to State Route 392 around 1:15 this morning for reports of a motor vehicle crash with injuries. They say a Ford pick-up driven by 37 year-old Dustin Vannederynen went off the road, struck a parked vehicle, garage and guide rail. Vannederynen was transported to Upstate Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Among a handful of charges he’s facing is Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Driver Arrested After Truck Slams into Garage in Cortland County A man has been accused of driving while his ability was impaired by alcohol and drugs following an early-morning crash in the town of Virgil. Authorities say 37-year-old Dustin Vannederynen was injured when the pickup truck he was operating went off Route 392 shortly after 1 a.m. Friday. According to the Cortland County Sheriff s Office, the vehicle struck a parked car, a garage and a guide rail. Vannederynen was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment. Investigators say the driver was charged with DWI and driving while ability impaired. He also was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana and unsafe speed.

Dozens of crashes, disabled vehicles and the like have been reported in Onondaga County and part of Interstate 81 in Broome County is closed after a winter storm swept through, closing schools and rendering travel treacherous. While Onondaga County was able to skirt the worst of the storm the Binghamton area was hit with about 40 inches of snow the area still saw about 8 inches of snow fall in the first large snow event of the season. From 5 to 8 a.m. Thursday, 20 crashes and more than 30 calls for disabled vehicles and vehicle complaints were reported in Onondaga County.
