Cornwall Covid exercise rules broken by Bodmin Moor dog walker - police

A dog walker has given a donation to the search and rescue teams that helped look for him after he broke Covid exercise rules – and then became lost in thick mist. The incident happened on Wednesday this week after the man drove 13 miles to walk his dog on Bodmin Moor. Bodmin Police said that this contravened Covid exercise rules, as there were plenty of alternatives that were closer. Officers had considered giving him a fixed penalty notice for breaching the rules, but he had paid the equivalent amount as a donation to the volunteers of Cornwall Search & Rescue, after three rescue teams were sent out to help find him in thick mist.

A FROZEN and barefoot teenager spotted walking along a rural lane after saying she had fallen in a stream was found after an all-day search by police and search and rescue teams. The 16-year-old girl was seen by a member of the public early on Sunday morning walking along the lane near Trevaylor Woods, Penzance with literally frozen hair, a blue face and wearing no shoes. When they asked her what had happened she said she had fallen in a stream and lost her belongings and her wellies. The member of the public was so alarmed by her condition that they called the police.

Several people in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, had to spend the night in a community centre, while 18 people had to abandon their caravans at Notter Bridge, near Saltash. The fire service called in water rescue units from Devon after 35mm of rain fell in just 24 hours. The flood risk is reducing over the weekend. Saltash Community Fire Station said both of its pumps were sent to two separate incidents on Friday, with both appliances pumping water until 04:00 GMT on Saturday.
