The region’s winter storm will likely push this week’s local COVID-19 vaccination events to Saturday and Sunday, Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales said.
Record-low temperatures and freezing rain led to power outages and icy roads, forcing a delay in this week’s delivery of 5,000 vaccine doses.
The allotment of shots for this week Week 10 of the state’s vaccine rollout may be delivered Wednesday or Thursday, Canales said.
“That’s the best thing that we can say right now,” Canales said. “We all wanted to go on Friday, but what’s probably best is if we plan for Saturday and Sunday” to administer vaccines.
The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District is waiting to hear from the state on when the Health District will receive its next vaccination shipment.
