The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners continued with Fiscal Year 2022 budget presentations as five groups made presentations to the board last Wednesday, February 24.
Those five groups were the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, Cape Cod Municipal Training Academy and AmeriCorps Cape Cod as well as the countyâs Dredge Program and Facilities Department.
AmeriCorps Cape Cod partners with the 15 Cape towns to implement natural resource management projects while also focusing on disaster preparedness and response, environmental education and volunteer engagement.
With an operating budget of roughly $680,000, AmeriCorps Cape Cod is now operating under the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Training rather than as a standalone organization. The groupâs Deputy Director Andrew Platt presented the budget, which stems from two primary factors: a federal grant and the countyâs 1:1 match.

Registration is now open for organizations interested in applying for an AmeriCorps Cape Cod Individual Placement for the 2021-2022 program year.
AmeriCorps Cape Cod is a full-time residential service program committed to addressing critical environmental and disaster response needs of the community. Its 24 members each provide 1,700 hours of service over an 11-month term, focusing on natural resource management, disaster preparedness and response, environmental education, and volunteer engagement. This year we have an option for current 2020-2021 Individual Placement supervisors to attend a shortened webinar highlighting any updates for the 2021-2022 service year, said Program Specialist Phoebe Plank.
