McLean County reported its biggest surge in new coronavirus case since mid-May on Wednesday with 130 new weekly cases.
The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) also announced one of its youngest COVID-related deaths to date: a woman in her 30s who was not associated with long-term care.
The health department also said it will resume daily COVID-19 updates on weekdays.
MCHD urges the public to follow the CDC’s new guidance that calls for fully vaccinated people to wear masks in indoor public settings in areas where there is significant or high coronavirus spread. McLean County meets the definition for “substantial” community spread, with a seven-day average of 62 new cases per 100,000 residents.

McLean County s largest coronavirus testing facility for much of the last year, the Interstate Center in Bloomington, will close its testing site at the end of July, and the area s largest vaccination site also has set a timetable for shutting down.
Private health care providers say they are ready to continue the public health response.
At its peak last November, the Interstate Center was conducting more than 1,000 coronavirus tests per day, according to data provided by the McLean County Emergency Management Agency and compiled by WGLT. At the time, the county s positivity rate was in double digits. New cases were coming in by the hundreds daily.

The McLean County Health Department COVID vaccination clinics have been cut back to 2-3 days per week.
McLean County health officials announced two additional COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, but said no county residents are hospitalized with COVID-19.
According to McLean County Health Department (MCHD) data compiled by WGLT, that marks the first time since last August that no McLean County residents are in the hospital with COVID complications.

The McLean County Health Department announced 24 new coronavirus cases and two COVID-related deaths in the last week.
MCHD also reported 24 new coronavirus cases since last Wednesday, the last time the county released COVID data. Since that time, 36 people have been released from quarantine and are considered recovered. Those positive tests came from about 4,700 tests.
