July 1, 2021 Starting July 1, 2021, Mechanical Engineering Professor Art Erdman, the founding director of the Bakken Medical Devices Center, and Carla Pavone, the Associate Director of the University’s Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship in the Carlson School of Management and the Program Director of Minnesota Innovation Corps, will become co-directors of the Institute for Engineering in Medicine Innovation Pillar.
The University of Minnesota announced that its Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center (BMDC), an internationally renowned center of excellence in the training and practice of medical technology innovation, is being incorporated within the University’s Institute for Engineering in Medicine (IEM).
IEM, which is uniquely situated under both the Medical School and the College of Science and Engineering, has a mission to advance healthcare by strengthening research collaborations between engineering and medicine in both academia and industry.
UMR to receive $350,000 to hire more faculty and increase scholarship dollars.

MINNEAPOLIS Tuition for University of Minnesota Rochester students would increase 1.5% for 2022 under President Joan Gabel s $4 billion budget approved by the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents on a 10-1 vote Tuesday.
Tuition on the Rochester campus would increase to $12,376 up $157 next school year for resident and nonresident students. That compares to the Twin Cities campus increase to $13,532 up $202 next school year; and $32,096 up $480 for nonresidents.

The Carlson School of Management s 1st Tuesday Speaker Series began in 1992 to provide an opportunity for alumni and friends of the Carlson School to continue their management education. The 1st Tuesday Speaker Series features top executives addressing hot topics in business and leadership.
