Carlton graduate selected for first national Métis scholarship by Paper Excellence

Prince Albert Daily Herald A Carlton Comprehensive High School graduate has been awarded Paper Excellence’s first national Métis scholarship. Jolynn Amyotte, who was Carlton’s 2021 valedictorian, said the scholarship will help her focus on classes rather than worrying about how to pay for them. “It’s super important to me, especially because it’s a Métis scholarship,” she said. “That means a lot to me. I feel like I am a the beginning of something great and I hope that future students applying for this scholarship can look (back) on this and see what kind of image a person receiving this scholarship should portray.”

These schools are King George Public School, Queen Mary Public School and Carlton Comprehensive High School. This was the second cases reported at King George and Carlton this week. At King George Public School one classroom of students has been identified as close contacts and are required to isolate. At Queen Mary, two classrooms of students have been identified as close contacts and are required to isolate.

It will be a year later than they originally planned, but the Prince Albert Lacrosse Association will finally get the chance to host the Saskatchewan Field Lacrosse provincial championships. The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association announced on Monday afternoon that the competition, which was originally scheduled for June 2020, will run from Aug. 20-22 at Prime Ministers Park. “We’re really excited to finally host the event and to see some familiar faces across the province that we haven’t got to meet up with in a long time,” Prince Albert Lacrosse Association president Javan Bexson said on Tuesday.
