Twitter/File ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is all set to depart for Saudi Arabia as the arrangements for his two-day visit May 7-9 have been completed, sources said Wednesday. According to sources, the Pakistani delegation will reach the Kingdom in two to three phases, adding that the first delegation has already left the country. Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam and Chairman Standing Committee on Defense Amjad Khan Niazi. PM Khan will leave for Saudi Arabia in the next two days, sources said.

According to the details, the ministry thinks that the education system in Pakistan is insufficient to effectively focus on climate change that is posing grave threats to natural environment and food security of Pakistan. The ministry would take the provinces into confidence and convince them to introduce climate change as a subject from the school to university level. The decision has been taken in line with the National Climate Change Policy 2012 that also stressed to make the climate change a compulsory subject in education curriculum.

According to the data shared by the ministry, it achieved early successes when it convinced the government to remove the cap on solar energy share in the national grid, shelve the policy of importing coal and introduce electric vehicle policy. The data showed that renewable energy technologies would be fully deployed so they provide a higher targeted proportion of the national energy supply mix, i.e., a minimum of 9,700 MW by 2030 as per the Medium Term Development Framework (MTDF), and helps ensure universal access to electricity in all regions of the country.
