December 21,2020 | Source: Dawn The government and World Bank will conduct a three-month study on Pakistanâs ocean waters for assessment of carbons sequestered by the countryâs ocean waters and mangrove forests, said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam on Sunday. Talking to media, Mr Aslam said a blueprint had been planned to assess economic value of millions of tons of carbons stored in the ocean waters and mangroves in the country. âThe study will help identify the scale of Pakistanâs ocean watersâ carbon storage potential. It will also help weigh up the amount of carbon storage capacity of the countryâs entire ocean ecosystem as well as the carbons stored so far in the ocean waters and coastal mangrove forests.â

Islamabad: Ministry of Climate Change would introduce electric train in wildlife safari park (Marghazar Zoo) to provide quality entertainment to visitors focusing to attract tourists towards this recreational place.
The plan aimed at creating pollution-free amusement park which would give a clear projection for the visiting families especially for children.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam revealed that wildlife conservation and information centre would also be built for creating public awareness about local flora and fauna.

Electricity to be provided at low rates

Islamabad : As part of the plan to promote the use of electric vehicles, the government has decided to provide electricity at low rates at fast-charging stations to be established at motorways and highways of the country.
According to the information shared by the climate change ministry, the inter-ministerial committee has approved the process of registration of electric vehicles and incentives to be offered to those who would start to use electric vehicles in the coming months.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam held extensive talks with a couple of other federal ministers after which it was decided that the government would start registering electric vehicles with attractive incentives for motorists.
More national parks to be established till 2023

Islamabad: The number of national parks in the country would be increased up to forty-five till 2023 under the Protected Areas Initiative to improve the forest cover, protect wildlife, and address climate change threats.
According to the details, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the climate change ministry to sort out modalities and complete spadework to increase the number of national parks especially in the high-altitude areas.
The initiative is aimed at preserving the depleting forest cover and dwindling wildlife habitats across the country that would cost around Rs2,400 million.
It will be supported with the launch of Pakistan’s first institutional ‘National Parks Service’ which will protect and conserve them as biodiversity reserves and wildlife habitats.
