(Paul Buckowski/Times Union)PAUL BUCKOWSKI/Albany Times Union ALBANY - Manning Boulevard will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic on Wednesday to allow for work on the bridge between Colonie Street and Arbor Hill Elementary School, Albany police said. The work will begin at 8 a.m. on Manning between Lark Street and Arbor Drive. A detour will be in place to direct motorists. Pedestrians will be directed by construction crews on how to navigate the bridge during the maintenance work. The road and bridge will both be re-opened as soon as the project is complete, police said.

MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) – While security will be tight and not many people in Meriden will get to see Wednesday’s visit from the first lady, the city is doing a lot to make her feel welcome. Gallery 53 in Meriden posted a sign congratulating Dr. Miguel Cardona on becoming U.S. education secretary and welcoming First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to the city. Gallery 53 / Facebook First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will join U.S. Secretary of Education and Meriden native Miguel Cardona for a visit to the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in the Silver City. It’s clear that as soon as Biden and Cardona arrive in Meriden, they are going to be feeling the love of the community. Welcome signs have been put up around the city. Channel 3 found one above Gallery 53 on Colony Street that read “congrats Dr. Cardona. Welcome Dr. Jill Biden.”

Kern County Sheriff s Office seizes $110k of Fentanyl pills Staff report The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation and Narcotics Operations Units seized roughly $110,000 worth of Fentanyl pills on Thursday after a two-week investigation. Two men were arrested and approximately 11,000 M-30 Fentanyl pills were seized, which have an estimated street value of $110,000. Jesus Antonio Garcia-Gonzalez and Noel Ayon-Aragon were arrested in the 6600 block of Colony Street in Bakersfield after the Fentanyl and a loaded handgun were located inside one of their vehicles. Garcia-Gonzalez,19, from Delano, California, was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Central Receiving Facility jail for possession and transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
