The Nausori Health Center has been relocated to Vunimono high School. Minister for Health Ifereimi Waqainabete said there was a need to relocate patients as their safety is paramount. This, as severe tropical cyclone Yasa - category 5 is expected to make landfall over the Fiji group later today. He said the school has a three-storey building and the operations will be from the ground floor Waqainabete said there is a risk of flash flooding and a threat of structural damage is anticipated for Nausori Health Center. He said the twelve-hour shifts will be activated and all patients will be attended to and the return to the Health Centre will be decided once the Cyclone passes Fiji.

Reports of mass patient discharges from Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) are not true, says Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.
“It was not a hundred patients, discharges occur generally,” he said when questioned yesterday.
He said the discharges were intended to ensure there is surge capacity in the hospital.
“For example, Valelevu, Nausori and Wainibokasi hospitals are able to hold patients for 24 hours.
“We have the ability to keep patients there and have high-end cover from CWM to these places so that we can continue to keep CWM patient levels down as we go into the festive season.”

Police are investigating a brazen baby abduction attempt at Suva’s Colonial War Memorial Hospital by a woman who faked her pregnancy and lied to her in-laws that she had delivered triplets.
Her in-laws had showed up at the hospital to collect her and the babies but were intercepted by the real mother of one of the babies just as she was about to make off in a taxi.
Faira Tabua, the woman who went public on social media regarding the alleged abduction, said the suspect was her younger brother’s partner.
“She called to tell us that she had delivered triplets at the CWM Hospital,” she claimed.
