GILGIT: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed has said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan enjoy equal rights as enshrined in the country’s constitution.
He stated this while addressing a ceremony after laying the foundation stone of a judicial complex in Jutial Gilgit on Friday evening.
Justice Ahmed said the day was not far when proper provincial status would be awarded to the region.
GB Chief Court Chief Judge Justice Malik Haq Nawaz, Justice Ali Baig, lower court judges, Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, GB Bar Council Vice-Chairman Malik Shafqat Ali, President Supreme Court of Appeal Bar Association Mohammad Hussain Shehzad and others were present.

LAHORE, May 8 (Gwadar Pro) - Chinese textile company Challenge on Friday afternoon signed an agreement with the Gilgit-Baltistan government to train 2,000 workers and provide them jobs in its factory in Lahore.
Managing Director of the Chinese company Karen Chen and representatives of the government of Gilgit-Baltistan signed the agreement. Qamar Bobi, a businessman who played a vital role in bringing in Chinese investment in Pakistan, was also present, said a news release issued here.
Speaking on the occasion, Karen Chen said that as per the agreement, 2,000 workers would be selected from Gilgit-Baltistan and after training, they would be given jobs in textile establishments in Lahore where the employees would be provided accommodation and food free of charge.
