RALEIGH â As North Carolina continues its attempts to catch up with administration of COVID-19 vaccines statewide, Avery County Health Department in a January 18 release shared its detailed protocol for administering upcoming COVID-19 vaccinations, which will take place at the Avery Agriculture Extension Center at Heritage Park (661 Vale Road above Ingles in Newland) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Jan. 20 to 22.
âWe will be vaccinating those who are group 1a and anyone 65 years of age and older. If you are on anticoagulants (blood thinners) a doctorâs note is required to get your shot. We require the doctorâs note before you come in to the Agriculture Building,â the agency released via social media. âThe first thing you need to bring is your patience. Two COVID-19-related deaths were reported Monday (January 18) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 210. There were 167 new cases confirmed Monday, raising the total to 14,091. There were 110 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County.
Caldwell County health officials confirmed two COVID-19-related deaths Monday, increasing the total to 89. One patient was over the age of 75 and the other was between the ages of 65 and 74. Both patients were reported to have underlying health conditions. 26 new cases of the virus were confirmed Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 7,430. There were 61 people hospitalized.
The Caldwell County Health Department has a waiting list of people 65 and older who wish to be vaccinated. There were 101 new cases of the coronavirus confirmed Thursday, increasing the county’s total to 13,540. 107 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Catawba County.
